Kambo is a powerful, physically involved medicine, and it is not for everyone. For your safety, all participants must complete a screening and consent form before scheduling a session. Certain medical conditions, medications, or health circumstances may make Kambo unsafe, and the screening ensures that the medicine is appropriate for your body at this time. Madeline offers Kambo along with an optional two plant medicines, called Hapé, a very grounding ceremonial snuff made of tobacco and plant ash, and Sananga, powerful alkaline eye-drops made from the Tabernaemontana undulata shrub which is very clearing and invigorating.

  • Preparing for the Ceremony: Once your waiver is cleared and your date is set, you can begin to set your intention with the medicine.

  • You will need to fast from food for 12 hours and fast from water 9 hours before the ceremony. Hydrate plenty in days leading up. Be nourished!

  • Arriving for ceremony, we open with meditation and sound healing in order to ground the nervous system and to set the "container" for your intention.

  • Kambo, Sananga, and Hapé can be served in any order if desired, but people usually elect to open with Sananga, ground in with Hapé, then to work with Kambo.

  • I serve in a very intuitive and gentle way, listening intently to queues and signals you and your body may be giving, and ask for consent along the way. I may sing, play instruments, play a playlist, or share reverent silence with you depending on your preference. Simultaneously, my training accentuates safety, and I am meticulous about carefully monitoring you in each moment of ceremony.

  • I offer 3/4L-1L of water (the size of a nalgene water bottle) before Kambo is applied, which your body is very ready for after fasting. I will open your "gates" with a very quick superficial burn, usually on the inner ankle or upper arm, and will apply one "test point" to see how your body responds to the medicine. From there we will work together to determine how much more (if any) your body would benefit from.

  • The medicine begins to work almost immediately, traveling through the lymphatic system and stimulating the body. This process is different for everyone. It can be emotional, lovely, gentle, and tender. It can also be intense, difficult, and uncomfortable. Both experiences are valid ways that Kambo works it's magic. Sometimes there is no purging, sometimes there is a lot. Sometimes there are tears, sometimes there is laughter!

Some people feel intense physical and emotional release, while others notice subtler shifts. Every session is unique, and the medicine meets your body where it is. Below is an example of how some common physiological processes arise in a kambo session.

Kambo Ceremony with Madeline

After, you are invited to decompress with broth, a wonderful long nap (under a heated blanket if we're inside), tea, and lots of electrolytes. Maybe some meat or other protein.

Integration and Rest is a very important part of Kambo. I recommend clients to
leave the rest of the day open, as some people need a day to recover. Others may be feel ready to run a marathon! It's different for everyone, and can change depending on the body's circumstances.

The Kambo experience can often leave you feeling cleansed, revitalized, and more present in your body. Many people notice increased energy, emotional clarity, and a sense of reset in hours & days afterward.

Integration practices, such as journaling, meditation, time in nature, and gentle movement, can help you embody the medicine fully.

Disclaimer: Every session is unique. Some people have very gentle experience. Some people have very intense and difficult experiences. the medicine will meet you where you need to be met.
